SPACE BEACH

Since 2024, I have been Creative Director of Space Beach Law Lab, an annual space law conference that explores and investigates the evolving legal and regulatory landscape of the space industry. Originally hired to create the first branded video content for the inaugural conference and help run media during the event, I was hooked from the very first speaker, who began describing how the law of the open seas led to the foundation of space law. Within a few panels, there was legal speculation about who would break up a bar fight on a moon base with multiple corporate and even national interests? Who would run the police or security and who would have jurisdiction? I was blown away that we were basically speculating about the cantina scene from Star Wars in a legal setting.

It was that crossover of science, science fiction, speculative imagination and real world situations that drew me in. Thinking about astronomy, legal frameworks, off-world living, and mining on asteroids, hearing about actual astronaut adventures and engineering feats, learning about how the space industry affects every day life - these are things that I believe would also engage a general public.

With my partners Drea Bernardi and Justin Hectus, the founders of the Law Lab, we have begun a new chapter with the Space Beach Foundation. This is a non-profit focused on the vector where ART meets SCIENCE.
