CUE FOUNDATION GALLERY
511 W. 25th Street

Ann Magnuson and Phranc put the Hoot in Hootenanny as they share the stage -and one acoustic guitar- performing classic tunes of their own making.
Why waste money feeding the big-money art conglomorates at the Miami Basel Art Fair when you can stay in New York and GET REAL with three chords and the truth! Say goodbye to overpriced Cosmopolitans, deep-fried goat cheese canapes and $900-a-night hotel rooms and stick it to The Man while roasting marshmellows around our cracklin', flame-retardant campfire! First 50 people arriving in denim will recieve free s'mores!!! Kick off those painful high heels and pull up a flannel blanket in a safe, Kumbaya-free zone as Ann and Phranc serenade you with songs from their respective ouevres. Ghost stories! Protest songs! Odes to Billy Joes and Woody Guthrie sing-a-longs brought to you in one life-lovin' jamboree! Don't resist! You know you've strayed too long. Throw off the shackles of those status-whipped, luxury-porn desires fueled by our inane, war-denying celebrity culture and get back down to basics with Phranc and Ann. And sing. Sing a song. Folk music. For just plain folks.

Hearkening back to a time when a show was a show and a broad was a broad, LADY, LADY, LADY: "Don't Stop Me Now" is a high-octane homage to the female-fronted music-variety television specials of the 1960s. Three unique lady vocalists, Yana Chupenko, Angela DiCarlo and Lizzy Yoder, are the Valkyries at the center of the storm, and will present a combination of original songs and old favorites, with comic transitions, glamorous costume changes and electrifying man dancers. Directed by Adam Dugas, LADY, LADY, LADY is an evening of explosive visual and vocal entertainment that will leave audiences shivering with delight.

WEIMAR NEW YORK is a theatrical cabaret that juxtaposes the aesthetic and music of Weimar-era Berlin with that of the contemporary downtown performance scene in New York City. Performers come to the show from a variety of backgrounds: from classically trained singers and musicians to performance artists and burlesque acts. The evening celebrates the spirit of creative resistance that thrives in response to conservative political forces be they the rising tides of Nazism in Weimar Germany or fundamentalist Christianity taking root in the contemporary United States.

I am performing and I also wrote the theme song. A new recording of the song, sung by Justin Bond, is available on a compilation CD sold at the Weimar New York shows.

JOE'S PUB
Two Shows
9 :30 p.m.
11:30 p.m.

A phantasmagorical evening with the actress, writer, performer and lead singer/lyricist of the cult band BONGWATER, featuring music, monologue, video and suprise guests. A vibrant presence on the New York and Los Angeles art and music scenes, Magnuson debuts new songs and spoken word from her new CD "Pretty Songs & Ugly Stories" with help from her producer/collaborator Kristian Hoffman and New York City's very own Loser's Lounge Band. Her first collection of all-new musical material since her Geffen release "The Luv Show", the album is a swirling confection of Baroque Pop and psycho-sexual angst sprinkled with sly wit and hard-won wisdom. "Ann Magnuson wears irony well" says the L.A. Times "She makes it sparkle and shimmer - seductively, seditiously. (Magnuson is) sequins on the outside, punk inside."
